About Jane R. Pattwell
Jane R. Pattwell is newest member of the firm and practices primarily in the areas of estate and incapacity planning with a focus on Wills, Trusts, and asset protection for individuals and their families. Jane assists clients in identifying and implementing a plan for the last decades of their lives as well as crafting a plan for distribution after they pass. Jane’s clients run the gamut from high net worth individuals to the ordinary Joe [and the ordinary Jane].
Jane has experience with guardianships, special needs planning and transitioning for individuals with different abilities as they reach the age of majority and require documents to appoint family members as their advocates. Jane represents residents buying and selling residential real estate along the peninsula and is well-versed in waterfront permits and riparian grants. In addition, she has successfully handled several farm purchases in western Monmouth.
As a member of Elder Law College, Jane brings a wealth of experience in helping families to avoid crisis planning .. and/or to navigate through a crisis if pre-planning has been procrastinated. With the establishment of revocable and irrevocable trusts, various gifting and caregiver agreements, and structuring asset transfers, Jane assists families in protecting assets while individuals are facing assisted living or medicaid applications.
As a member of the National Association of Divorce Professionals, Jane is well-versed in assisting individuals with blended families and in aiding second and third partners in preserving a legacy for children of prior relationships. Jane monitors the titling of assets and the conveyance of interests so as to protect partners from ‘the other family’ upon death of a spouse. Jane counsels clients re: pre-and post-nuptial division of assets and protection of the next generation in the event of a parent’ s lost capacity.
A lifelong resident of Monmouth County, Jane is active in the community and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Central Monmouth and a member of the Bar Associations of Monmouth County and the State of New Jersey. She served as a long-time member of both the Rumson Fair Haven Board of Education and the Rumson Education Foundation.
