About Robert L. Heugle, Jr.
Mr. Heugle brings more than thirty-eight years of civil litigation experience to his zealous passion for bringing prompt and inexpensive resolutions to business disputes. Mr. Heugle has extensive trial experience in construction cases, business litigation, product liability and general liability / negligence matters. The N.J. Supreme Court has designated Mr. Heugle as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. For the last six years (2012-2018) Mr. Heugle has been selected to the New Jersey Super Lawyers List. Mr. Heugle focuses on handling construction-related claims and lawsuits, including those involving architects and engineers. In his practice, he also represents large corporations in cases involving business disputes, workplace / industrial accidents and defends them against claims asserting damages caused by industrial and consumer products. Mr. Heugle’s practice includes contract disputes involving government contracts, including those subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Mr. Heugle has also represented property owners, public entities, and businesses in connection with redevelopment and eminent domain cases.
Mr. Heugle brings to his cases extensive experience handling complex cases in both Federal and State Court. Prior to joining Byrnes O’Hern, Mr. Heugle was a senior partner at Lomurro, Davison, Eastman & Muñoz, in Freehold, New Jersey, where he chaired the Firm’s Corporate / Business Litigation Department. Mr. Heugle was also a partner at Carpenter, Bennett & Morrissey in Newark, NJ, where, for ten years, Mr. Heugle concentrated on personal injury defense and construction litigation, as well as a variety of product liability actions.
Mr. Heugle also served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey from 1980 to 1984. While employed as a civil litigator in the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Heugle’s responsibilities included construction and contract actions. As a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Heugle also represented the State at Condemnation (Eminent Domain) hearings and trials, as well as hearings before Administrative Law Judges.
Mr. Heugle received his Bachelor of Arts (1975) and Master of Arts (1976) degrees from Villanova University with honors. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University in 1980. Mr. Heugle was a member of the Loyola Law Review and a member of the Loyola Law Clinic working in the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Heugle is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), American Bar Association (Litigation and Construction Sections) and the Monmouth Bar Association. He has served as a Settlement Judge in the Lawyers for Civil Justice Program. He has also served as a Trustee of the Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football Conference, Inc., a past President and member of the Holmdel Football Association, Inc., and as a member of the Holmdel Juvenile Conference Committee. Mr. Heugle is the founder and Executive Director of the Frances Foundation for Kids Fighting Cancer, Inc. In 2009, Mr. Heugle was honored as the “Humanitarian of the Year” by the Holmdel Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Mr. Heugle was the recipient of the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 Circle of Excellence Chairman’s Award, and he is the 2012 Monmouth-Ocean Development Council’s Silver Gull Community Service Award recipient. The Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation recognized Mr. Heugle with its 2014 Distinguished Service Award.
